Eros and contemplation.
Is it possible that the two thousand-year rivals are becoming friends?

Luigi Lombardi Vallauri, after a theological training, he graduated in Law and since 1970 is Professor of Philosophy of Law at the University of Florence. From 1976 to 1998 he also taught philosophy of law at the Università Cattolica of Milan, which dismissed him owing to his teaching, considered heterodox compared to the doctrine of the Catholic Church.
Author of a wide range of philosophical essays, published between 1967 and 1981, Lombardi Vallauri, with Terre. Terra del Nulla, Terra degli uomini, Terra dell’Oltre (1989) took a radically critical position towards the orthodox Catholic doctrine.
With the essay Nera Luce. Saggio su cattolicesimo e apofatismo, published in 2001, he conducted a critique to the tenets of Catholicism, by directing his philosophical research towards a secular mystique that combines the secular Western scientific thought with traditional meditation techniques of Eastern philosophies. Recently his interest is also in the legal protection of animal rights.
