Laboratorio Nove


From June 10 to 29 the first artistic residency workshop of the project Nostoi – Histoires de retours et d’exodes was held at the Laboratorio Nove of Sesto Fiorentino.
Thirty young artists (theatre, dance, music and visual arts) took part, after being selected in May from among the 74 candidates answering the competition announcement.
Under the guidance of the art director Michael Marmarinos and the choreographer Cristina Rizzo, they interrelated on the use of different artistic languages while working on mythological subjects and tales of voyages across the Mediterranean, from the nostoi of the Greek heroes at the end of the Trojan War to the departures and returns that still touch the shores of this sea today.
The aim of this itinerary wss to elaborate a common narrative, expressed through the languages of contemporary creativity wherein hints of ancient traditions may encounter artistic innovation and take on new meanings.

The project Nostoi– Histoires de retours et d’exodes, financed by the ENPI CBC MED programme and co-ordinated by Cooperativa Archeologia of Florence, is in collaboration with the following international partners: Fondazione Fabbrica Europa per le Arti Contemporanee, Florence; the National Theatre of Tunis; Agence di Mise en Valeur du Patrimoine et de Promotion Culturelle, Tunis; Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Marseilles.
