The special project Montare a cavallo, created and supported by the Fondazione Pontedera Teatro, opens to the public with the show Era delle cadute, a collective production of Fondazione Pontedera Teatro and nine theatre groups: Biancofango, Carrozzeria Orfeo, LeVieDelFool, Lo Sicco/Civilleri, Macelleria Ettore, Ossadiseppia, Scenica Frammenti, Teatro delle Bambole, Teatro dei Venti. The show will be presented as a single collective work around a chosen theme, the fall, a site-specific designed specifically for the space of the Teatro Era of Pontedera.

Montare a cavallo is an artistic and productive challenge born after the work meeting held in Pontedera in 2013 with the artists – Scendere da cavallo – during which actors and directors of ten theatre groups worked together at Teatro Era: a work of exchange, a comparison of different techniques, a collective discussion on the meaning of theatre. The work reports of the companies and the logbook that the journalist Andrea Porcheddu wrote for the project are available on the website of the Fondazione Pontedera Teatro www.pontederateatro.it.

After the pause for reflection of 2013, the artistic director of Pontedera Teatro, Roberto Bacci, invited all artists to work together again on a simple idea: to create a collective show at Teatro Era, to be presented twice and to be prepared in part at home and in part in five days of rehearsals all together in Pontedera, in June 2014. During two preparatory meetings with the directors of the nine groups, a common theme – that of the fall – the spaces of the Teatro Era to be used, the functions of coordination and connection among the artists were decided in order to produce a unique work from the different works prepared by each group (7-10 minutes for each group, except for the groups that will work on connections).

So Era delle cadute will be rehearsed, seen, set up and tested at Teatro Era from 9 to 13 June, and opened to the public in two performances on 13 and 14 June. For a week fifty people, artists and technicians will work, sleep, eat in all areas of the theatre, giving life to this collective work.
