Choreographer and dancer Luisa Cortesi and trombonist Gianluca Petrella meet in Liquido, a performance in which music and dance are a in deep balance and develop in a continuous search, in a (im)possible dialogue.
On stage, the sound texture created by Petrella with the trombone and live electronics inspires the movement of Cortesi that becomes a significant element of the sound plot, in a repetitive and compelling gestures game.
After the first meeting between the two performers at the Festival Fabbrica Europa 2016 within the project DAN+Z (Dance+jazZ), Liquido is the stage in which the form becomes autonomous and the substance becomes recognizable and at the same time elusive.
Luisa Cortesi, after studying contemporary dance in Italy, Europe and the United States, inaugurated in 1999 began an experimental path in the performing arts field alternating personal projects and collaboration with artists from various disciplines. From 2000 to 2003 she participated in several productions of Compagnia Virgilio Sieni Danza. At the same time she strengthens the collaboration with the visual artist Massimo Barzagli, with the realization of performances, shows and videos presented in contemporary art centres, theatres and Italian and international festivals including Fabbrica Europa, Santarcangelo of Theatres, Rencontres Internationales Chorégraphiques de Seine Saint-Denis, Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato, SPAF – Seoul Performing Art Festival. Cortesi was selected for the European project “Focus on Art and Science: European contemporary production” (2010-2011) within which she created with Massimo Barzagli two site specific works, Action Figures and Eskaton, presented in Italy, Slovenia, France and Korea. In November 2012 she was one of the choreographers selected for the NID Platform of the Italian dance held in Brindisi. Among the most recent activities, the site-specific project with Massimo Barzagli Fate presto, with the choreographies Dancing and Stand clear of the closing doors together with Marina Giovannini, produced and presented at Fabbrica Europa 2014; the presence at the Venice Biennale with the performances L’Appuntamento and La Trappola (June 2014); the creation Mousing for KNCDC Seoul with the Korean dancer Cha Jin-Yeob (September 2014); Black Landscape with Massimo Barzagli, a production of Associazione Culturale dello Scompiglio presented at the SPE in Capannori (LU).
