HISTOIRES DE RETOURS ET D’EXODES

NOSTOI is an international research and cooperation project between Italy, Tunisia and France on the possible dialogue between archaeology and the performing arts.
The project, aimed at promoting archaeological sites through the languages of contemporary arts, was chosen for funding in the first call for standard projects launched by the European Union within the framework of the ENPI CBCMED cross-border cooperation programme.

A new visit experience to archaeological sites narrated by conjugating the languages of contemporary arts with scientific research, and also a project promoting exchange among cultural operators and dialogue and mobility among young artists from the Mediterranean Basin.

The project evolved in two artistic worksites, during which 30 young Italians and Tunisians, selected among more than hundred candidates, worked together guided in Italy by the Greek director Michael Marmarinos and in Tunisia by the artist Kays Rostom. The public presentations of the results of this artistic work were held in the archaeological sites of Baratti-Populonia and Carthage Byrsa between March and May 2015.

The project was carried out by Cooperativa Archeologia in partnership with Fondazione Fabbrica Europa per le Arti Contemporanee, National Centre of Scientific Research of Marseille, the National Theatre of Tunis, the Agency for the Development of National Heritage and Cultural Promotion of Tunisia.

Associate partners: the Tuscany Authority for Archaeological Heritage, the University of Florence – “Giorgio Pasquali” Department of Ancient Sciences, Laboratorio Nove, Theseum Ensemble, Hellenic Centre of the International Theatre Institute.
