13 objects is a project by Camilla Monga that began with the participation of the dancers of Training Cycle, and the artistic collaboration of Jacopo Jenna and Luca Scapellato.
The quartet reinterpreted Edgard Varèse’s concept for the composition of Ionisation by using objects that become the primary means for defining a series of physical possibilities.
Thirteen common objects, removed from their daily context, become the basic tool to define a range of physical possibilities. Their functions determine patterns whose directional components are unpredictable, but serve as the basis for expansion and variation of rhythm. Each object is a vehicle to claim a spatial and temporal dimension, in order to produce a musicality of movement, rather than concrete sounds or music.
The result is an intense, paroxysmic vision which reaches an illusory chaos and a surreal logic.
“There is an idea, the basis of an internal structure, expanded and split into different shapes or groups of sound constantly changing in shape, direction, and speed, attracted and repulsed by various forces” (Edgard Varese).

Camilla Monga (1987), after graduating from Accademia Paolo Grassi in Milan and from Fine Arts Academy Brera in Milan, she studied at P.A.R.T.S. Academy in Bruxelles where she had the opportunity to develop her research studies with different choreographers and musicologists such as Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, Bojana Cvejic, Thierry De Mey.
Her projects took part in several dance contexts in Europe: Uovo Performing Festival – Milan, NaoCrea – Milan, Vetrina XL Anticorpi – Ravenna, Biennale for young artists – Thessaloniki, Opera Estate Festival CSC-Bassano del Grappa, ZPC Plesni Centar Zagreb Residency Program – Zagreb, Julidans LAB for young choreographers – Amsterdam, P.A.R.T.S. showcase Bruxelles, Camping CND Centre National de la Danse-Paris, La Manufacture Season – Aurillac.
Since 2012 she has been working as a choreographer with the musician Luca Lska to develop her research in experimenting with sound art for creating audiovisual performances.
She has a deep interest in mathemathics and physics focused on movement and kinesthetic learning.
Her last project Quartetto per oggetti, created in collaboration with Jacopo Jenna and Luca LSKA, supported by P.A.R.T.S. was involved in Biennale Danza di Venezia 2016.
