The workshop Attakkalari Movement Technique starts with a warm up based on Yoga stretches, followed by Attakkalari’s unique body alignment, breath and focus exercises. There will then be an initiation into the idea of alignment, breath, focus, sense of gravity, and multiple spaces that operate in our movement vocabulary. The notion of wiring the body in different ways through the concept of energy distribution to various part of the body will also be touched upon.
This will be followed by short sequences introducing the concepts of body and principles of movement embedded in Indian performance traditions, martial art forms and body care systems.
The participants will then learn sequences from Attakkalari’s own movement language employing these principles. Along with Macro and traveling movements there will also be an emphasis on micro and delicate movements typical of Indian performance traditions. This will be followed by a warm down.

Parth Bhardwaj graduated from Attakkalari’s Diploma in Movement Arts and Mixed Media in 2009. Alongside his independent work, Parth works with Attakkalari’s Repertory Company.
