When I imagine Madame Bovary I see a woman who is hungry, I see a woman overcome by desire.
Her drugs are not objects, her drug is the image, the vision, the dream of what she does not possess.
She sees something she does not have, wants it and runs. If she can afford to buy it, she buys it. If she can not buy it, even making debts, she becomes ill of desire and envy.
Desire poisons her, but at the same time makes her alive. She wants the impossible and this makes her alive because desires fulfilled are dead desires. Because only the impossible is worthy of being desired.

Luciano Colavero (1978) graduated as a director at the National Academy of Dramatic Art Silvio d’Amico in Rome. In the years of the Academy he founded with Sandro Maria Campagna and Antonio Tintis the company La Fiera with which he staged Woyzeck by Büchner, La Fiera, Edoardo Secondo and 2 (due). Subsequently he has made directions for important Italian productions, including Il Re for the Compagnia Attori e Tecnici, Rome; Assemblywomen by Aristophanes for INDA, Syracuse and CRT Artificio, Milan; The Bacchae by Euripides for Teatri Antichi Uniti and AMAT, Woyzech for CRT, Milan; L’Assemblea from texts by Aristophanes for Teatro Stabile delle Marche; Sono Soltanto Animali for ERT, Modena.
As an author, he won the Ennio Flaiano International Prize (2000) for Ultima corsa and was twice among the finalists of the Riccione Prize with Una colomba (2001) and Sogni blu (2007). From 2005 to 2010 he collaborated with Peter Stein as a dramaturg and assistant director.
In 2012 he founded along with Chiara Favero and Simona Rossi the company Strutture Primarie for which he directed L’Assemblea (2012), Sono soltanto animali (2012), Madame Bovary (2014). In 2013 Strutture Primarie collaborated with the Teatro delle Muse for the project Opera Buffa – Laboratorio teatrale in carcere which saw the creation with a group of detainees of a performance based on the text of ll Barbiere di Siviglia.
