Within POST ELETTRONICA
project curated by Valentina Gensini and Letizia Renzini

POST ELETTRONICA, curated by Valentina Gensini and Letizia Renzini, is an installations and performing arts special project that includes original creations, concerts, performances and installations by international artists who have gone beyond the electronic and digital mechanism towards a gestural and contaminated use of the new technologies.
For the project Post Elettronica Kirsten Stromberg presents a series of oil paint interventions on The Financial Times newspaper dissolving ‘subject’ and reflecting on the fear of nothingness and the construction of self in contemporary material culture.

Her work investigates issues of representation and perception through various media from sound to video, collage, installation and painting. Often reflecting on social and political issues, she questions the construction of ideological thinking specifically in dominant material culture, exploring the poetic and complex aspects of human experience.

Kirsten Stromberg graduated a Senior Fellow from Dartmouth College focusing on experimental music, sound sculpture, sound installation and painting. In 2005 she completed her MFA in Arts and Consciousness Studies at John F. Kennedy University in Berkeley.
She has lectured and taught at several universities and art institutes throughout Italy including Washington University in St Louis-Florence Campus, Mediterranean Center for Arts and Sciences, Lorenzo deí Medici and Florence University in the Arts. Currently she teaches painting at Syracuse University in Florence. She has also participated in several workshops taught by the collaborative duo Rosenclaire including a residency in Michaelis Art Institute in Capetown, South Africa as well as an artist cultural exchange in the province of Venda, South Africa working with Master Carvers from the region. Her work has been shown in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Florence, London, Copenhagen and Berlin.
