Screenplay is an album and a live music show by accomplished composer, solo artist, producer and collaborator John Parish, known for his work with PJ Harvey, Eels, Giant Sand, Aldous Harding and others. The live show features Parish, alongside musicians Marta Collica, Giorgia Poli, Jean-Marc Butty and Jeremy Hogg, in front of scenes from films – some with dialogue, some abstract.
Parish has been writing for film, theatre and contemporary dance since the late ‘90s when his first score for “Rosie” (Belgium, 1998, directed by Patrice Toye) won the Jury Special Appreciation Award at the 1999 Bonn International Film & TV Music Biennale.
He scored Ursula Meier’s “Sister”, winner of the special Silver Bear at the 2012 Berlin Film Festival, and has twice been nominated for an Ensor (Belgian Oscar) for Patrice Toye’s “Little Black Spiders” (2012) and Nathalie Tielinck’s “Le passé devant nous” (2017).
