Through the image of the Wanderer (the walker) the French choreographer Alexandre Fandard questions this walk always recommenced, momentum, desire, or attempt to reach the horizon …
By drawing on the chiaroscuro so beloved of romantic painters, he constructs by the dance and the scenography a kind of “mood landscape” on stage: man, his desires, his limits but also his power to sublimate what he does not understand, what he cannot achieve.
On the same evening, C’est toi qu’on adore by Leïla Ka is also presented.
Alexandre Fandard is a self-taught free-style hip-hop dancer. After attending the Académie Internationale de la Danse in Paris, he danced in Brett Bailey’s Exhibit B (Paris, South Korea, Estonia), a piece in which he interpreted a static element with expressive intensity, as in a painting. This experience strengthened his interest in pictorial aesthetics.
Discovered by La Cie de Soi, he danced in Heroes at the Pantheon.
In September 2016 he was selected as a resident artist of the “Laboratoire des cultures urbaines” at the Centquatre in Paris. In 2018 he created Quelques-uns le demeurent, presented in numerous European festivals (first prize Festival CortoInDanza, Italy), first prize Concours Trajectoire (St-Etienne), second prize Festival 10 Sentidos (Spain).
He recently created the duo Très loin, à l’horizon in which he dances with Leïla Ka.
