SHIFT Shaping Harmony, Innovating Forms & Thought 2024-26 is a groundbreaking project funded by the Culture strand of the Creative Europe programme of the European Commission.
The project, led by Cie Omar Rajeh & Maqamat (France) with the partners Fabbrica Europa and Albania Dance Meeting (Albania), aims to transform the way dance is experienced and presented.
SHIFT seeks to explore new formats of artistic expression, community engagement, and audience interaction, involving artists, experts, and citizens from multiple EU and Mediterranean countries.
SHIFT aims to uncover the essential conditions for transitioning from the ‘visual’ to the ‘active’, illuminating the requirements for engaged creations, innovative relationships, and unconventional audience experiences
The project kicked off in 2024 in Florence with the first On-site Explorations (13-16 October), continued in Tirana (17-19 January 2025) with The Big Dance Lab, and in Lebanon with Telescope Beirut (4-10 April 2025).
Also in 2025, SHIFT will have a new phase in Florence, as part of the Fabbrica Europa Festival, with further developments in research and work on unconventional spaces.
The project will conclude in the summer of 2026 with a three-day dance meeting in Lyon, during which citizens will immerse themselves in an interactive journey of artistic creativity and community participation.
