the persistence of action goes to the root of thought in order to know and understand it. no, no concept falls within this form of exhumation. physical action suffices, without the addition of thought. the search draws upon the brain’s substance and its moving excitement, which shapes the mind, the characteristics of your personality; the unmistakable traits of your character. a primal nostalgia plunges into the darkness of time and lineages and displays the traits of a form of prayer. it resembles the ‘reed-like movement’ of many forms of prayer and dance on the planet. at this point, it would be necessary to say what a prayer is. are you capable of doing so? an answer is provided for you through the drama of addressing someone when there cannot be anyone there.

Senza Titolo (Untitled) by Romeo Castellucci is a repeated action offered to the public as a perpetual motion.
The intervention is based on a few elements: a gold tube hung horizontally in the center of a bare room. A microphone is grafted onto the tube.
The participants in the action – met in different host cities – appear on the scene one by one. They are ten people different in age, physical appearance, gender, ethnicity: children, men, women, the elderly.
They are united by their long hair, flowing down their backs past their shoulders.
Each participant appears alone on the scene, wets his or her hair in a simple plastic basin filled with water and approaches the golden pipe. Once he or she reaches the position, he or she begins to strike the pipe with the tip of the water-weighted hair.
The microphone built into the pipe sends the sound back reverberating into the large room.
The action is incessant, rhythmic, and after a few minutes, the participant is replaced by the next one.

Director and stage, lighting and costume designer, Romeo Castellucci is known throughout the world for creating a theatre founded on the totality of the arts and aimed at an integral perception. He has also written various theoretical essays on directing. His theatre engages in a type of dramaturgy that overturns the primacy of literature, thus becoming a complex and supple form of art, a theatre made of extraordinarily rich images expressed in a language as comprehensible as music, sculpture, painting or architecture. His stagings are regularly invited to and produced by the most prestigious international theatres, opera houses and festivals, in over fifty countries covering all the continents.
