Varietà (Variety) is a performance originating from a contemporary dance workshop open to all, including people with disabilities or neurodivergence.
A project that celebrates multiplicity as wealth, diversity as creative opportunity, and makes accessibility its founding principle.
The title recalls on the one hand the plurality of the elements that make up the world – variety of bodies, perceptions, experiences, tastes, opinions, genres – and on the other hand it is inspired by the variety show genre itself, made up of independent, inhomogeneous, surprising acts, free from a single narrative thread.
Fabio Novembrini and Laura Scudella create a context in which every presence finds recognition, in which the lightness and irony of variety can become a look at difference, at relationships, at dance.
Fabio Novembrini is a freelance dancer and choreographer. He was a member of Balletto di Roma under the direction of Roberto Casarotto, and in 2015 he was selected as a Dance Artist for the European two-year research project “Dancing Museums”, performing his creations in some of the most renowned museums in Europe, including the Louvre in Paris and the National Gallery in London. In 2019, he was the Italian artist chosen for “Duetto a tre voci”, a research and creation project in partnership between CSC – Centro per la Scena Contemporanea in Bassano del Grappa and Circuit-Est Centre Chorégraphique in Montreal. From September 2018 to January 2019, he took part as a performer in The Cleaner, Marina Abramović’s exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence. Since 2017, he has been a Dance Well teacher.
With a degree in pedagogy, Laura Scudella has studied various dance techniques. She attended the “Isola danza” Academy and participated in performances directed by Carolyn Carlson.
