Le Trait, as the line that joins the three works of the new creation of Nacera Belaza.
Two solos and a duo, like an echo to the path of the Franco-Algerian choreographer. After having danced for years alongside her sister Dalila, Nacera Belaza this time chose to work on a solo: a way to experience loneliness, feeling necessary to “remain permeable to the surrounding environment and to receive the world inside oneself”.
For Le Trait, Nacera and Dalila have created three different choreographies. Separate on stage, they are united by the relation that they both have with the body, the space and the emptiness.
This creation crosses another story: that of the choreographer and her country of origin, Algeria. Through Le Trait, together with two young dancers she met on the other side of the Mediterranean, Nacera Belaza explores the links between her “hypnotic” choreographic language and some Algerian traditional dances, some sacred rituals.
Even if minimal, Nacera Belaza’s dance is very generous, inviting the viewer to make a journey inside himself in order to better meet it. And all its force is in the intensity of a minimal gesture that reveals a poetry capable of giving rise to a myriad of images, never representing any.
