Pianist, composer, arranger and musical director for artists such as Phoenix and Sébastien Tellier, charismatic and talented Christophe Chassol is the author of an unclassifiable work.
Born in 1976, French of Antillean descent, his compositions are real landscapes of cultures into which to dive, among voices, music, sounds and images that he calls “harmonies of reality”. Living soundtracks, which recall the works of Steve Reich and Hermeto Pascoal and give life to interplays between the sounds present in the videos and the compositions played live.
Chassol on stage is accompanied by Mathieu Edouard on drums.
The son of an amateur saxophonist, Chassol has been studying piano at the Conservatoire National de Musique de Paris since the age of four.
At 20, he won a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in Boston where he graduated in 2002. Since then he’s pursued music as a vocation and started touring with French group Phoenix and with singer and songwriter Sébastien Tellier.
A turning point in his career is the encounter with musician, composer and producer Bertrand Burgalat, founder of the renowned label Tricatel and considered the French response to Phil Spector.
