As part of the Palcoscenico Virtuale. Contemporary Dance Digital Lab project
Eric Joris is artistic leader of CREW, an arts collective that pioneered immersive performances, developing what we now call VR or MR.
Joris will give a short history of the development of the medium and its language, his plans and collaborations towards the future, including Performing Heterotopia, a new project that aims to create performative spaces and communities where physical and digital encounters can be organized, with a hybrid type of presence.
The intention is to stage an interactive, multi- and interdisciplinary environment where bodily movement is central and “works of art” and performances can be created through dialogue with the different stakeholders.
Is it possible e.g. to have artists and citizens build and articulate heterotopia as places for exchange? And to connect and interact within different heterotopia?
Palcoscenico Virtuale. Contemporary Dance Digital Lab is a training course focused on the themes of digital transformation in relation to the contemporary culture sector, and in particular dance. The project was born with the aim of updating culture and performing arts professionals on the opportunities offered by digital technologies for the creation of “live” productions and multimedia content.
