Complesso delle Murate in Florence | IT
After the success of the last editions, the Festival au Désert renews and – with a clear reference to the legendary caravan of the thousands camels that from Timbuktu went across the desert with its cargo of salt, gold, knowledge and visions of the world – presents the project AZALAI – carovana in musica, that brings to the spaces of the old prison Le Murate in Florence, music, meetings, film presentations, exhibitions, African food and initiatives on understanding and dialogue among cultures.
Starting from the partnership with the Festival au Désert of Tumbuktu, AZALAI – carovana in musica is an innovative and itinerant laboratory for cultural experimentation. A moving platform looking for new musical maps through Europe, the Mediterranean and Africa, and aiming at drawing a map of the present that can connect, through the common filter of music, the European continent with “the worlds of culture” that populate it, the “new identities” that are reflected in it, the processes of encounter and exchange that draw its territories and boundaries.
