With Eight, cellist Francesco Dillon brings to life American composer Michael Gordon’s score for an ensemble of eight cellos.

The project departs from the conventions of the traditional concert format to become a contemporary ritual and a sound installation. Sound spreads through the space, passing from one instrument to another, dissolving the boundaries between the individuality of each performer and the collective ecosystem of the ensemble, in an uninterrupted dialogue between contemporary breath and essential structure.

An internationally acclaimed cellist and a member of the renowned Quartetto Prometeo, Francesco Dillon moves effortlessly between the classical repertoire and the most adventurous musical experimentation. A professor of advanced cello studies, he has established himself as a tireless explorer of the expressive frontiers of his instrument, collaborating with many of today’s leading composers.
