In Music to dance: from Aka Moon to Alain Platel, a meeting that will also involve the musicologist Luisa Santacesaria, the Flemish composer Fabrizio Cassol addresses the dynamics of composing music for contemporary dance and multidisciplinary productions.
Born in 1964, Fabrizio Cassol is a saxophonist, composer and leader of Aka Moon – a Belgian trio well known to jazz fans. A multifaceted artist who loves mixing different styles, he works with musicians from all over the world, exploring classical and improvised music and oral traditions, playing with the boundaries between different genres.
He has worked with choreographers and directors including Alain Platel, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Lemi Ponifasio, Faustin Linyekula, Philippe Boesmans, Luc Bondy and Tg STAN. For several years, his collaboration with KVS, under the directorship of Jan Goossens, followed a stint as artist-in-residence à La Monnaie De Munt Opera in Brussels.
