within La Francia in Scena, artistic season of Institut français Italy, realized on the iniziative of the French Embassy in Italia, with the support of Institut français and Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication

Entered in the dance world with hip-hop, dancer for the compagny of Maguy Marin, Leïla Ka faces, in Pode Ser, the stage alone, carried in a kind of struggle – against both herself and summons – that will not end.

Obeying to a singular syntax of hip-hop, Pode Ser talks about limits, aspirations, emancipation of a body but also disarray. Maybe the disarray of being in the world and of only being oneself.

The choreographer and dancer faces the stage in a solitary struggle against herself and the call to be there. Pode Ser, (‘maybe’ in Portuguese) is an undefinable dance born of multiple influences that explores and reveal the many “I”s ; the real, experienced one and the ideal beings that make up a person.

Leïla Ka entered in the dance world with Hip-Hop and then fuses it with theatre and contemporary dance. With George Cordeiro, former dancer of Brasilian company of Bruno Beltrao, she co-created and interpreted between 2014 and 2015 two duo pieces that have been awarded by national prices (Bourses Beaumarchais SACD…).
In 2016 she won the Talents Danse Adami and joined the compagny of Maguy Marin to perform the famous work May B.
Pode Ser, her first solo, has been awarded in France and abroad.
