Norwegian artist Marie Skogvang Stork in residence at PARC to develop her creation Trolsk.
“Trolsk” is a word for being different, powerful, possibly dangerous, and/or not to be trusted. The story’s about a girl whose mother was accused of being a “trollkvinne”, the Norwegian word for being a witch around the 1600s.
Vardø in Northern Norway went through a significant amount of witch trials compared to number of inhabitants.
This solo piece is about becoming friend or foe to whatever it means to be Trolsk. The project embodies what it means to lose identity and get detached from one’s cultural heritage in one single life.
Marie Skogvang Stork is from Bodø, Norway. She lives in both Oslo and Bodø, working as a freelance actress and writer. She is trained from the national Nord Acting and Artistic Production and the Film programme at Westerdals Oslo Act.
With a background in film and dance, she is interested in the intersection between physical presence and text. She writes for both stage and screen and won Best Pitch at the Norwegian Short Film Convention in 2021 for The Municipal Election.
As a performer, she has in recent years appeared in Dead as a Dodo by Wakka Wakka in the US, Norway, South Korea, and France. She’s also performed for Norwegian productions like Ash Cloud by Karoline Una Moen, and Tomas Espedal’s Marie min.
