November 15, 2025 - November 16, 2025

Cascine Park in Florence | IT

Sat, November 15 h 15:00
Sun, November 16 h 11:00

as part of ARCIPELAGO COREOGRAFICO
a project by Fondazione Fabbrica Europa
carried out with the support of MiC and SIAE, within the framework of the programme “Per Chi Crea”

Forrest is a solo performance that unfolds in urban public space, inviting both accidental and intentional audiences into an unpredictable encounter.
The performer moves through streets, plazas or non-places, embodying a heightened physical state shaped by the environment and its rhythms.

Conceived in and for public space, Forrest embraces informality and playfulness as tools to bring contemporary dance and performance closer to a wider, often non-specialist audience. Rather than being participatory in a conventional sense, it proposes a form of interaction that is subtle and open-ended – a choreography of presence and attention that invites the viewer to perceive and perhaps even inhabit public space differently.

The work by Rafael Candela questions the relationship between the body and public space, challenging its function as gathering place and restricted area.

Rafael Candela is an Italian-Brazilian dancer and performer, trained at Biennale Teatro di Venezia, Civica Scuola di Teatro Paolo Grassi, and as a selected DanceWEB scholarship holder at the ImPulsTanz Festival in Vienna.
He collaborates professionally with Alexis Vassiliou, Fabio Cherstich, Nicola Galli, Simona Bertozzi, Elisa Sbaragli, Vittorio Pagani, Ariella Vidach, among others.
Forrest is his first authorial work and has been presented in venues and festivals such as Triennale Milano, BASE, Festival Danza Urbana, Ammutinamenti, and the Italian Cultural Institute in Paris.
