Sedimenti is one of the sections, curated by Massimo Carosi, of the Petrolio, uomo e natura nell’epoca dell’Antropocene project aimed at creating an international production with choreographers/dancers from different Mediterranean countries, which will debut in June as part of the Matera 2019 – European Capital of Culture programme.
Project partners are Associazione Basilicata 1799 (project leader), Associazione Culturale Danza Urbana, Associazione Culturale Cantieri (Network Anticorpi XL coordinator), Fondazione Fabbrica Europa, Fondazione Ravenna Manifestazioni, Maqamat Dance Theater (Lebanon) and Trayectos, coordinator of Red A cielo abierto (Spain).
Fabbrica Europa has selected 3 authors/performers who, together with the 5 choreographers proposed by the other project partners, participated in the first stage of Sedimenti, the MCR – Mediterranean Choreographic Research residency, from March 24 to 31 in Florence.
During MCR every artist will was invited to involve others in his/her own work practice, to present his/her authorial research and to devise a choreographic co-creation. The residency was in fact designed, as well as to develop projects, also as an opportunity for meeting and exchange among artists.
The 8 choreographers who was in residency in Florence, together with Marco Mazzoni as a tutor, are Bassam Abou Diab (Lebanon), Raquel Buil Bretos (Spain), Nivine El Kallas (Lebanon), Olimpia Fortuni (Italy), Danila Gambettola (Italy), Leonardo Maietto (Italy), Fabio Novembrini (Italy), Justo Yeinner Urbina Chicas (Spain).
At the end of the residency the project partners selected Bassam Abou Diab, Yeinner Chicas, Olimpia Fortuni and Leonardo Maietto who will take part in the subsequent production phases in Beirut, Ravenna and Matera.
