Fondo 2024/25

Santarcangelo dei Teatri, in collaboration with 15 Italian partners, has built a network dedicated to the productive development of emerging artists, with the goal of supporting the research phases of performative projects that, by their nature, require long creation times.
The 16 organizations and institutions that make up FONDO address distinct objectives within the theatrical and performative system, thus meeting varied work needs related to artistic production, from development to touring.
The one-year program provides financial support of €20,000 (per group) aimed at the research and production of a creative project, as well as the participation of artists and companies in at least 50 residency days hosted by the partners, and 4 masterclasses or workshops led by international creators.

The artists supported for the 2024/25 edition of FONDO are:

Genny Petrotta, born in 1990, is an Italian artist who lives and works in Palermo. Her artistic practice, focused on video installation and writing, aims to sublimate a wide range of interests, spanning from anthropology to poetry and history. She graduated in Arts and Cinema at the D.A.M.S. University of Palermo with a thesis on Reality, Aesthetic Truth, and Facts in the films of Werner Herzog. Since 2016, she has been part of the artistic collective Il Pavone and has exhibited in various festivals and exhibitions. Since 2017, she has worked as an assistant director for the artistic duo MASBEDO. In 2022, she directed the production of the works “U Scantu” by Elisa Giardina Papa, presented at the 59th Venice Biennale, and “Alkestis” by Beatrice Gibson, presented at the British Art Show. In 2023, she won the twelfth edition of the Italian Council with the project “Mamma Perdonami” and the On the Road 2023 Production Fellowship, hosted by Autostrada Biennale.

Giorgiomaria Cornelio was born in Macerata in 1997. He is a poet, director, performer, and editor for “Nazione indiana”. He co-directed the “Trilogy of the Wanderers” (2016-2020), which was presented at numerous film festivals and exhibition spaces. His works have appeared in “Il Tascabile Treccani”, “L’indiscreto”, “Doppiozero”, and others. He has published “La consegna delle braci” (Luca Sossella Editore, Premio Fondazione Primoli), “La specie storta” (Tlon Edizioni, Premio Montano, Premio Gozzano), and the essay “Fossili di rivolta” (Tlon Edizioni). He participated in the project “Civitonia” (NERO Editions). As a performer, he has collaborated with, among others, Franko B, Teatro Valdoca, Roberto Paci Dalò, Cristina Rizzo, and Fabio Condemi. The translation by Moira Egan of some of his selected poems won the Raiziss/de Palchi Fellowship from the Academy of American Poets. He is one of the curators of the project “Edizioni volatili” and the artistic directors of the festival “I fumi della fornace”.
