Crossing the sea

a project between Italy, and Middle East and Asia

Crossing the sea is a project that intends to support the internalization of performing arts by fostering collaboration and knowledge between Italy and Middle Eastern and Asian countries. The project is realized by a network of seven Italian organizations in collaboration with nine foreign partners and is supported by the Italian Ministry for Culture through the call “Boarding Pass Plus”.

The aim of the project, through the selection of 6 creative artistic projects presented by Italian artists (mainly under 35 and/or emerging) and 5 young curators, managers and operators, is to start an internalization process aimed at promoting networking opportunities, sharing good practices, favoring international co-productions and bilateral exchanges, allowing the selected artists and young operators to directly know foreign audiences, encouraging participation in Asian platforms and international meetings.

The Italian partners involved in the project are Marche Teatro / Inteatro Festival Polverigi (project leader), Anghiari Dance Hub, Armunia / Inequilibrio Festival, Associazione Incontri Internazionali di Rovereto / Festival Oriente Occidente, Fondazione Fabbrica Europa, Lis Lab Performing Arts / Cross Festival, Mosaico Danza / Interplay Festival.

The international partners are Maqamat (Beirut, Lebanon), Attakalari Centre for Movement Arts (Bangalore, India), T.H.E. Dance Company (Singapore), SIDance (Seul, Korea), City Contemporary Dance Company (Hong Kong, China), Shangai Dramatic Arts Center (Shangai, China), Hong Kong Arts Festival (Hong Kong, China), National Performing Arts Center (Taipei, Taiwan).
