In the second year of programming, Focus Young Mediterranean and Middle East Choreographers 2018, a project supported by La Francia in Scena, the artistic season of the Institut français Italy / Embassy of France in Italy, widens its geographical dimension and its artistic mobility and intercultural dialogue action including artists from complex backgrounds such as Syria and Iran.
From March to September and crossing the Italian territory from Turin to Catania, the project develops a programming of work sessions, short and long format performances, offers young choreographers selected artistic residencies and opportunities for in-depth study through meetings with others artists and with the public, organizes workshops and master classes, focusing in particular on the exchange of performative practices between foreign and Italian artists and supporting shared projects.
Sina Saberi (Iran), Mithkal Alzghair (Syria), Radouan Mriziga (Morocco), Seifeddine Manai (Tunisia), Jadd Tank (Lebanon), Nora Alami (Morocco), Tommaso Monza, Giovanna Rovedo (Italy), Shady Abdelrahman, Ibrahim Abdo (Egypt), Radhouane El Meddeb (Tunisia), Bassam Abou Diab (Lebanon), Jacopo Jenna (Italy), Suhaee Abro (Pakistan), are the selected artists for the 2018 edition.
This year the Focus involves fourteen Italian structures* and can count on the collaboration of BIPOD / Beirut international platform of dance and Maqamat Dance Theatre, Beirut.
