Along a path lined with digital inputs – made of images and videos that reflect our look on the issues of the present – Giovanfrancesco Giannini takes the audience on a journey through the whirlwind of the web and his personal archived memory. The scenic space opens up to reality, connecting remote geographies in a mediatic portrayal which incorporates and reflects all kinds of information: the body becomes both a witness and a medium for the content shared by the database, following the flow of movements that crystallise into pictures. The body searches, but it also tries to reconfigure and witness the visible world.
CLOUD is a political reflection on images and the mediatic representation of bodies, organised around the concepts of duration and repetition: the performance unfolds over one hour and thirty minutes and consists of three repetitions of approximately thirty minutes each, and the public can enter and exit between each one. The content is the same, but the body and the spirit will not be the same from the first to the last performance, from the first to the second day.
The connection with the violence of images gains a ritual quality, embedded in physical and mental fatigue, in the obstinacy of a prolonged permanence on stage, acquiring a peculiar strength and depth.

Giovanfrancesco Giannini was born in Naples in 1990. He collaborates with Alessandro Sciarroni, Cia Aiep Ariella Vidach, Cie Eco Emilio Calcagno, Fabbrica Europa and Cia Körper. He danced for Sang Jijia, Dimitris Papaioannou, Stefano Poda, Luca Veggetti, Mathilde Rosier, Dominique Dupuy and Ismael Ivo. He presented his works at Nao Performing Festival, FOG Triennale performing festival, Fabbrica Europa, Romaeuropa, CCDC festival Hong Kong, Korperformer and Secret Florence.
CLOUD has been selected for Tanzmesse open studios 2022, NID Platform open studios 2021 and DNAppunti coreografici 2019 Romaeuropa. His project Memories was among the winners of the Crossing the Sea call in 2019. In 2020, he was among the Italian artists selected for CRISOL, a project funded as part of the Boarding Pass Plus 2019 programme promoted by MiBACT.
