KUTU was born from the meeting in Addis Ababa of the violinist Théo Ceccaldi with the fusional voices of the two Ethiopian singers Hewan G/Wold & Haleluya T/Tsadik.
It is a journey to the heart of the feverish nights of the underground Addis, where an hyperactive youth captures ancestral music to better free themselves from it.

From poems of today and collected Ethiopian tribal rhythms, Ceccaldi conceived a telluric set where improvisation, powerful voices and energy meet, supported by a strong rhythmic section and a line up full of contagious vitality with electro-cosmic keyboards and hypnotic bass.
A glowing Ethiopian trance combo, where the freedom of jazz merges with the raw depth of Azmari sounds.

The line-up for Fabbrica Europa:
Théo Ceccaldi – violin
Hewan Geberewold – vocals
Cyril Atef – drums
Valentin Ceccaldi – bass
Akemi Fujimori-Poivre – keyboards

Kutu at Fabbrica Europa is supported by Fondazione Nuovi Mecenati – Fondazione franco-italiana di sostegno alla creazione contemporanea.

His productions and collaborations include artists such as Paul Simon, with whom he wrote four songs on the latest album “Stranger to Stranger”, Marco Mengoni, with whom he wrote and produced three songs of the “Materia” trilogy, Eric Andre, Coldcut and many others.
His music is in the official soundtracks of the videogames GTA V, Pro Evolution Soccer, Steep and he is the composer of the official soundtrack of the animated series “Wolfboy” for Apple TV and of the documentaries “I am the revolution” and “Liyana”.

Mappe del Nuovo Mondo (Maps of the New World) is a platform focusing on the new performing arts scene which shows creative processes and outcomes of young artists and international protagonists who work with body languages, music, sound, new technologies and interaction with the public, experimenting new practices and site-specific formats.
