as part of the Fabbrica Europa 2026 festival
Arto Tunçboyacıyan, percussionist and singer, was born in Galateria, near Istanbul, into a family of shoemakers of Armenian-Anatolian descent. At the age of eleven, he began his career performing and recording traditional music with his brother, establishing himself as a professional musician in Turkey and across Europe.
In 1981, he moved to the United States to explore new creative influences, broaden his artistic vision, and escape the restrictions imposed on the Armenian minority in Turkey.
Since then, he has performed around the world, both as a member of various ensembles and as a solo artist. Among his most renowned projects is the creation of the Armenian Navy Band, with which he has toured and performed internationally.
At Fabbrica Europa, he will present Circle of Resonance, together with Turkish kamanche player Derya Türkan and French musician Michel Godard, one of the few virtuosos of the medieval instrument known as the serpent.
