The choreographer Irene Russolillo and the videoartist Luca Brinchi are in Dakar, along with the musician and performer Karima 2G and the dancers Antoine Danfa and Mapate Sakho (Senegal) and Ilyes Triki (Tunisia), for a residency during which they will continue the work on the choreographic and video work If there is no Sun.
This project was born in 2020 as part of CRISOL – creative processes, a project designed by a network of Italian and international organisations and created to promote opportunities of meeting and co-creation between Italian and international artists.
The research of Russolillo and Brinchi, together with Danfa, Sakho and Triki, has started from the concept of “community”, meant as a “set of people united by ties of belonging or who share the same behaviors and interests, as a “community” but also as “family”, “friendship”, “ritual”, “landscape”.
If there is no sun is a creation in which notions and intuitions related to the places and people who are part of this journey interact, letting the observation point shift constantly. By untying the knots of distance, the authors imagine the birth of a new community that dance and video creation want to tell.
On Tuesday 19 April (from 7.30 pm) the six artists will present to the public, at the Centre Culturel Blaise Senghor, the results of this stage of creation.
