KUTU was born from the meeting in Addis Ababa of the violinist Théo Ceccaldi with the fusional voices of the two Ethiopian singers Hewan G/Wold & Haleluya T/Tsadik.
It is a journey to the heart of the feverish nights of the underground Addis, where an hyperactive youth captures ancestral music to better free themselves from it.
From poems of today and collected Ethiopian tribal rhythms, Ceccaldi conceived a telluric set where improvisation, powerful voices and energy meet, supported by a strong rhythmic section and a line up full of contagious vitality with electro-cosmic keyboards and hypnotic bass.
A glowing Ethiopian trance combo, where the freedom of jazz merges with the raw depth of Azmari sounds.
The line-up for Fabbrica Europa:
Théo Ceccaldi – violin
Hewan Geberewold – vocals
Cyril Atef – drums
Valentin Ceccaldi – bass
Akemi Fujimori-Poivre – keyboards
