INFO

Phare Ponleu Selpak Cirk is a Cambodian circus company founded in the Phare Ponleu Selpak Scenario School in Battambang, the educational center of Battambang, founded in 1994 to provide educational services for children of families in difficulties and contribute to the reconstruction of the national cultural fabric after the war and the end of the Khmer Red regime.
Children welcome the center providing a food program, medical assistance, educational support and a wide range of cultural and artistic activities. Within its headquarters, Phare Ponleu Selpak hosts a public school, a library, an educational center and three art schools (visual arts, circus, theater, music) with 450 students.
Phare Ponleu Selpak Cirk was born a few years ago on the initiative of a group of students from the stage school. Their performances, after the success of the first two ( Bong toch bong thom and Holiday , devoted to the lives of street boys), are now also distributed in Europe.
Putho! (in Khmer “My God”) is their latest work, produced in November 2008 along with the Philippine Educational Theater Association after a company study period at Vietnam’s Circus School in Hanoi and the Ecole de cinque de Lomme in France.
