The Festival au Désert/presenze d’Africa opens the fifth edition with a preview with Amadou & Mariam.
Ambassadors of Malian music in the world, these two extraordinary musicians have enchanted stars like Manu Chao, U2, Coldplay, David Gilmour, Damon Albarn and Jovanotti with the rhythms and melodies of their homeland.
Influenced by both traditional music and rock, Amadou & Mariam met in 1977 at the Institute for Young Blind in Bamako and began performing in 1983, gaining a growing success in their country that has become an international reputation over the years.

The Festival au Désert/presenze d’Africa will continue on July 24 and 25 at the Complesso Le Murate of Florence (free admission).
