Belgian artist Ief Spincemaille will be in residency in Florence in January 2017 to prepare his work ROPE. Possibilities of Binding, selected for the commission programme Current Utopia initiated by the European project N.O.W New Open Working process for the performing arts of which Fabbrica Europa is partner.
ROPE is a spatial intervention creating poetical spaces. It’s 100 meters long and 25 cm wide and can be used by participants as a social instrument to solve a specific problem in a particular neighborhood or district. ROPE seeks interactions with other people and places with their own values, dreams and purposes.
As part of the European project N.O.W. New Open Working process for the performing arts ROPE will be presented in Florence within the Festival Fabbrica Europa on May 2017 involving citizens and tourists in three different locations of the city: downtown, the Arno river and the working class neighborhood Isolotto.
N.O.W. is a project realized by a network of European cultural professionals working in the field of the performing arts that aims to develop a transnational laboratory platform to explore new ways of supporting artists and their processes. N.O.W is supported by the European Union within the programme Creative Europe. Partners of the project are Extrapole – France, Fabbrica Europa – Italy, Latitudes Contemporaines – France, Indisciplinarte – Italy, Lókal – Iceland, Mom/Elvivero – Spain, Trafó – Hungary, WP Zimmer – Belgium.
