Sara Capanna and Michele Scappa

RESIDENCY

December 7, 2019 - December 8, 2019

PARC Performing Arts Research Centre Firenze | IT

Fabbrica Europa hosts two young dancers and choreographers, Sara Capanna and Michele Scappa, for a creation residency at PARC, where they will work on their project Crepe: studi sulla fragilità della materia (Fissures: studies on the fragility of the matter).
Crepe is a research on the potential internal fractures of the body, on the glimmers of light in the space, but also on the opening towards dimensions of sensitivity and care between individuals.
During this residency Sara and Michele will develop and deepen these concepts, with a specific attention to the images created with their bodies and with the scenic space.

Sara Capanna, after training in dance and experimental theatre, moved to London to study contemporary dance techniques. On her return to Italy, she started studying at university and in parallel she continued her training as a dancer at Art Factory International (Bologna) with artists such as David Zambrano, Eduardo Torroja (Ultima Vez), Brigel Gjoka (Forsythe Company), Erion Kruja (Hofesh Shechter Dance Company), Bruno Caverna. Within this course she was selected for an intensive course aimed at staging the performances P-Work and Back Over, presented at the Fontana Danza festival in Milan. In 2017, in Pisa, she began the Attore Dissennato training course with the company Animali Celesti – teatro d’arte civile, with which she performed Il Minotauro and Il Sigillo. She is currently preparing her degree thesis on the activity of this company and at the same time continues to deepen her training and her research on the fusion between the arts.

Michele Scappa is a young freelance dancer who is currently approaching the world of physical theatre and improvisation. He began his studies at Opus Ballet Centro Coreografico in Florence, then continued at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds where he earned a master’s degree in Contemporary Dance Performance. He has danced for numerous Italian and international choreographers, including Yuval Pick, Hannes Langolf, Sita Ostheimer, Lenka Vagnerova, Matthew Robinson, Loris Petrillo, Monica Casadei, Elio Gervasi, Lali Ayguade. He took part in “Incubatore per Futuri Coreografi” (Incubator for Future Choreographers), a project curated by Franca Ferrari for young artists who aspire to become choreographers. He is also studying Psychology at the university in Florence.
