within Focus Young Mediterranean and Middle East Choreographers 2018
project supported by La Francia in Scena, artistic season of Institut français Italy / French Embassy in Italy
The starting point is a simple need to move. Prelude to Persian Mysteries is a research effort that questions the 40-year oblivion of dance in Iran. It is inspired by ancient Zoroastrian culture and rituals, no more existing, and strives to bridge a gap between an invisible past and a fragmented present.
In terms of movement, the solo relies on sound and imagination to bring this four-decade gap into an embodied experience, wondering what the dance might look like & how the dancer might move today. This project is constantly in development, trying to develop its movement vocabulary and discover its own identity.
