Wayne Horvitz leads the Miles in the Sky project with his Electric Circus, a large, predominantly electric ensemble that blends soul, funk, and jazz-rock through a contemporary lens.
Its declared point of departure is the visionary electric period of Miles Davis, whose music is reinterpreted for the 21st century through an expansive orchestral formation. The choice of a mainly amplified en-semble reflects the very nature of the source repertoire, rooted in the electric turn Davis embraced from the late 1960s onward.

Wayne Horvitz is a pivotal figure in New York’s “downtown scene” and in contemporary music, known for his collaborations with John Zorn and Naked City. His artistic path moves fluidly between contemporary composition, electronic avant-garde, jazz, and electroacoustic ensembles, making him a relentless and indispensable explorer of modern sound.
