Fondo 2023/24

In July 2023, the second edition of FONDO kicks off, the network for the productive development of emerging artists launched by Santarcangelo dei Teatri and which currently involves 16 Italian partners, with the aim of supporting the research phases of performative projects which, due to their characteristics, require long creation times.
The program provides financial support of €20,000 (for each project) for the research and production, 50 days of project-based residency hosted by the partners, the participation of selected artists in at least 4 workshops/masterclasses over the course of a year and led by international authors.

For this new edition three new partners join the network: Lavanderia a Vapore Turin, SCARTI Centro di Produzione Teatrale d’Innovazione della Liguria and Fuorimargine / Centro di produzione della danza in Sardegna.

The artists supported in the second edition of the Fondo are Vashish Soobah and Elena Rivoltini.

Vashish Soobah (b. 1994) is a visual artist, filmmaker and documentary maker, born in Sicily to Mauritian parents, raised in Brianza and currently based in Milan. He graduated in Media Design and Multimedia Arts (2018) at NABA and obtained a Masters in Moving Image & Artist ‘s Film at Goldsmiths University of London (2019). In his works he always starts from his condition of in-between or that of being in the middle between two cultures, the Italian and the Mauritian one. His practice is always linked to the concept of memory and migration, to the meaning of home and identity, to spirituality and issues related to the Mauritian diaspora through biographical and personal experiences.

Elena Rivoltini (b. 1994) is a performer, actress, singer and sound artist. She graduated in 2017 from the Scuola del Piccolo Teatro in Milan. She also studied music, especially ancient vocal polyphony and electronic music. She made her theatre debut working for Bob Wilson in Odyssey (2016) and since 2017 she has worked as a performer in the field of theatre, dance theatre, performance and musical theatre. She speaks five languages – Italian, English, French, German, Spanish – and curates an archive of glossolalia. She investigates the voice, the proprioception of the body and the breath to create scenic-sound dramaturgies and site-specific projects.
