An heir to the Sicilian agropastoral tradition, Alfio Antico is unanimously recognized as one of the greatest masters of the frame drum.
In his solo set at Museo Novecento, in harmony with the telluric and natural energy of the space, he brings his sound universe, starting from his work “Trema la Terra” (Earth Trembles). A performance in which ancestral technique opens up to experimental flashes: his drum becomes an absolute instrument, merging oral tradition with a theatrical and performative attitude that blends ancient myth with contemporary energy.
Born in Lentini in 1956, Alfio Antico grew up among the shepherds of the Hyblaean Mountains, learning ancient percussive techniques. Both a custodian and an innovator of tradition, he plays instruments he builds himself. He has recorded with Fabrizio De André, Vinicio Capossela, Carmen Consoli, and Cesare Basile.
