Reconstruction Italian Contemporary Choreography
Anni ’80-’90
In conceiving the project RIC.CI Marinella Guatterini wanted to re-propose to the attention of audience and critics an important season of the Italian research choreography, that of the 80s and 90s. Among the works that mark this time full of creativity there is certainly Duetto by Alessandro Certini and Virgilio Sieni, a small dance masterpiece that has been hailed by critics as “a metaphor of a choreographic game, the pleasure of the cultured invention alongside funny symbolisms”.
Ritualized and intense choreography, almost a danced struggle, Duetto refers to a strong evocative and concrete framework: a blue painted canoe, colored stones, a thunderbolt. The musical score (from The Rite of Spring to The Firebird and Petrushka) celebrates the story of two Indian warriors, two heroes who meet, challenge each other, move apart, all in the sign of a harmonious fusion between dance and pure storytelling.
Within the Project RIC.CI – Reconstruction Italian Contemporary Choreography. Anni ’80-’90 Duetto is here re-proposed with interpreters of Fattoria Vittadini, company founded by graduates of the Corso di Teatrodanza of the Scuola Paolo Grassi/Fondazione Milano.
