Description of the project

Inter Pares Project is an on-going performance research project by and with international dance artists Agnese Lanza and Julie Havelund-Willett.
Inter Pares Project places value on the acts of describing, listening, watching and remembering, and is looking into different ways of truly engaging the body in physical activities, which generate choreographic material.

The project aims to share its practice with professionals and non-professionals alike, between the three countries Italy, UK and Denmark. Through these groups the research can keep developing across European borders.

The project has been selected among the Mobile Sessions of 14th ELIA Biennial Conference that takes place in Italy for the first time, in Florence, from November 30 to December 3, 2016. ELIA Biennial Conference is the largest conference on higher arts education worldwide, drawing an audience of approximately 500 directors, artists and academics in all disciplines.
The programme of the Conference includes, on December 1st, some Mobile Sessions with open working sessions and workshops by Florentine Cultural Institutes, among which Fabbrica Europa that presents Inter Pares Project at Le Murate. Progetti Arte Contemporanea (ELIA Biennial Conference programme on www.elia-artschools.org/activities/biennial-conference).

Agnese Lanza and Julie Havelund-Willett are two emerging dance artists from Italy and Denmark both trained in contemporary dance.
Inter Pares Project started in November 2013 as part of a residency at S P A C E @ Clarence Mews (UK), and since then it has been performed in more than 20 venues between the UK and Italy (most recently Fabbrica Europa Festival and Uffizi Live).

Aims of the workshop

The workshop, which lasts from November 28 to December 2, focusses on sharing Agnese Lanza and Julie Havelund-Willett’s practice with the participants (both professionals and non-professionals), allowing everyone to physically explore and discover new ways to create choreographic material.
Participants can ask questions, share thoughts, curiosities and ideas.
Each day starts with a warm up followed by an explorative section and ends with sharings and evaluations about the activities.
