Homer’s poem, reread through the history of dictatorships in Latin America, becomes a topical investigation on violence and compassion.
Reinhard Manz’s film documents the various stages of the work’s development, its research, its rehearsals, its assembly. Brie is also filmed in Buenos Aires, where his theatrical career began before his flight from the military dictatorship which led him to Italy.
César Brie’s Iliade is therefore seen during the process of its composition, followed right through to the début in our country and then to the return to Bolivia.
