And if at the origin of every movement of the body was there the action of folding and unfolding? LE PLI explores this hypothesis.
The young Italian-French dance company Roberte & Robert based in Montpellier organizes each of its performances on a “single action” used as a motor for movement and as a principle of choreographic composition.
After exploring the action of “pushing” in ACTE I and that of “abandoning” in ACTE II, the two dancers-choreographers stage the movements of of folding and unfolding.
The field of possibilities is limitless: the different parts of the body can stretch and contract, enlarge and expand. Flesh and skin are marked by the folds that create the movements. Invisible folds, wrinkles overlap in the heart of sensitive matter and emotion.
With the support of Axelle Carruzzo and inspired by Gilles Deuleze’s essay LE PLI, Sandrine Frétault and Lorenzo Dallai undertake a journey to discover a body shaped like a fabric, from the fold to the many folds: “a baroque aesthetic” of the “PLI”.
